Dynamical prediction of flu seasonality driven by ambient temperature: influenza vs. common cold
نویسنده
چکیده
This work presents a comparative analysis of Influenzanet data for influenza itself and common cold in the Netherlands during the last 5 years, from the point of view of modelling by linearised SIRS equations parametrically driven by the ambient temperature. It is argued that this approach allows for the forecast of common cold, but not of influenza in a strict sense. The difference in their kinetic models is discussed with reference to the clinical background. PACS. 87.10.-e General theory and mathematical aspects – 87.19.xd Viral diseases

Prediction of flu epidemic activity with dynamical model based on weather forecast
The seasonality of respiratory diseases (common cold, influenza, etc.) is a well-known phenomenon studied from ancient times. The development of predictive models is still not only an actual unsolved problem of mathematical epidemiology but also is very important for safety of public health. Here we show that SIRS (Susceptible-Infected-Recovered-Susceptible) model accurately enough reproduces r...
متن کاملSeasonality in acute liver injury? Findings in two health care claims databases
BACKGROUND Presumed seasonal use of acetaminophen-containing products for relief of cold/influenza ("flu") symptoms suggests that there might also be a corresponding seasonal pattern for acute liver injury (ALI), a known clinical consequence of acetaminophen overdose. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine whether there were any temporal patterns in hospitalizations for ALI th...
متن کاملPrevalence of Influenza B Virus in Flu Patients Referring to Health Centers in Mazandaran Province, Iran, 2011- 2013
Abstract Background and Objective: Influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by Influenza virus with three kinds of A, B and C . This virus spreads througout the world and produce some epidemics with different intensities . This study aimed to determine the prevalence of influenza B in patients reffering to health centers. Material an...
متن کاملA survey of selective trends and seasonality in viral respiratory tract infections
Current explanations of the seasonality of colds and influenza are incompatible with observations of the incidence of these diseases in the tropics. Many or most wild respiratory viruses possess temperature sensitivity (with less activity at higher temperatures) and it has been suggested (refs?)/I suggest that this prevents them from moving down the respiratory tract and infecting the lungs and...
